I worked at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Brand recognition and several long standing account relationships. As most agencies, media perks are never ending - if you're still into that sort of thing. Great office space, gym, cafeteria, and bike station.

Cons

Walk into one department meeting in NYC and you'll see how perfectly the staff reflects the demographic (insert sarcasm). In honesty, there are growth opportunities, but it's mostly based on how late you want to stay and the level of brown nosing you're willing to output 60+ hrs/wk. Promotions are possible, however pay increases, not so much. Heavy dog eat dog environment.

Advice to Management

Diversify staff, nurture talent and provide adequate compensation.

I have been working at Ogilvy & Mather full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Professional development is a priority. Lots of encouragement to pursue learning and growth in various skills (technical and professional). Lots of leave time and holidays.

    Cons

Encouraging all members of team to list contacts (friends) for new business prospects - it felt invasive and forced. Compensation was not competitive and promotions were delayed indefinitely.

I worked at Ogilvy & Mather as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very focused on career development, they like to get younger employees opinions, they are open to suggestions, you have access to higher management, it's a flat organization

    Cons

They were a little disorganized, but that was mainly in part to the fact they had just moved offices and I had to move between different offices during my internship
