I worked at Oklahoma Blood Institute full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Company takes care of its employees with a fantastic HR team, knowledgeable and caring management, and decent benefits.

Employees are helpful and friendly individuals that do not take themselves too seriously.

The mission of the comany is a noble one. They strive to save lives.

In my department, there was never an issue about taking days off. If you submitted your time in advance it was generally approaved.

All-in-all, this is a great company that has handled weathering the changes of time and life very well.

Cons

Hospital hours are a requirement. If bad weather hits the state be prepared to come in to work even if it happens to be a day off.

If you work the over night shift and there is a company meeting or training, you are going to miss out on sleep while only the work of day time workers are interrupted. Even after all these years the company has yet to emplement a plan of action to accomidate night workers whether its for meetings and trainings or company cookouts.

Advice to Management

Always keep an open mind along with your open door policy.

I worked at Oklahoma Blood Institute full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You can work at different places everyday. You meet a variety of people. You can do different positions if you get tired of the one your currently. Working.

    Cons

Your work schedule is never the same on a daily or weekly basis. You never develope a daily routine.you spend alot of time on the road. Its hard to have a family life because the hours vary so much.

    Advice to Management

If employees schedules were alittle more consistent than it is now then alot more people would stay. Also if they had trainors who were more patient and cared about training properly then the turn around would be alot lower.
