I worked at Oklahoma City University full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Had a good deal of autonomy to grow a program.

Cons

Had to deal with massive inefficiencies and lack of cohesive coordination across affected departments. Serious budget issues are facing the entire institution while they continue to take on debt.

Advice to Management

Find ways to better and honestly communicate with all employees. Remind those in leadership positions that the university is not their personal playground or piggy bank.

I worked at Oklahoma City University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The students were amazing and professional. Best students I have ever worked with when I was there.

    Cons

The faculty is toxic and greedy for power. It consists of male domination making females feel superior. They keep admitting huge amounts of students into programs that can't possibly sustain the growth without hiring adequate faculty to teach them. Also, huge hiring turnover. People leave after a few years due to toxic environment and overloaded classes. Some of the faculty teaches seven to eight classes a semester. It's unheard of at other Universities.

    Advice to Management

Treat the students more like adults and not like children, power hungry administrators churning large amounts of students with poor faculty to student ratio, quite a bit of sexism, and needs more faculty to cover overloaded classes.

    Pros

Free tuition. Students are fun to work with.

    Cons

The pay is extremely low hours are long some leadership is cliquish and shows unfair partiailiy to who they hired. Lots of micro management.

    Advice to Management

Judge a person based on their performance not on what others tell you about them. Get to know the people doing the work. look for new blood!
