Pros

Excellent starting pay. Great employee discounts at Gap and Banana Republic. Extremely easy interview because they nearly hire everyone.

Cons

Supervisors are extremely competitive for the employees to convince customers to open Old Navy cards.

I worked at Old Navy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Managers/LODs really want to see their team members grow. They push for the greatest potential and effort! You really learn the basics in retail and customer service. Working at the flagship store meant there was always something to do, someone to greet. Work will hardly ever be slow or "boring." Employee discount do great good, esp since Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Gap is within the same ownership. Co-workers are diverse and friendly -- literally the melting pot of the San Francisco community. Recent remodeling = Beautiful, comfortable, & modern-hip-cool environment too! Learned how to multi-task and do more than smile sweetly... definitely a good first job experience.

    Cons

Good first job experience, not sure about long-term... Sometimes, the managers push a little tooo hard for sales/ONCs. Just a little. Pressure is definitely on. But thank goodness that's not all they care about. Might be a little challenging to get good hours, esp if availability is low. Fast-paced-- the store arrangement changes frequently and its slightly hard to adjust when managers can barely tell you themselves where products are.

    Advice to Management

Continue to recognize individual talent and skills of your team. They will work harder & results will definitely increase as soon as that bond is confirmed and stable. Other than that, keep it up!! Old Navy in SF definitely has a promising future ahead... for everyone.

I worked at Old Navy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Gap inc. in general is an amazing company to work for, training is a top priority and they care about their staff.

    Cons

The associate pay is good but for management you get paid better if you get recruited from outside the company, if you get promoted internally they hold back on the salary.
