Pros

Salary is average, but the overtime demands and overbearing. There is NO balance for work life and home life. If you wish to succeed you have to drink the kool-aid and devote yourself fully.

Cons

The only commitment Olin makes is to its shareholders, and short term balance sheets. Their is little to no respect for the employees. Upper management demands respect, but doesn't earn it or deserve it. The culture is best described as "straight out of the gulag".

Advice to Management

Value your employees, and they will surprise you. They ARE YOUR BEST ASSETT. Don't preach values and ethics unless you are committed to them. Don't expect more from anyone else than you yourself are willing to give.

    Pros

    Good work with great pay.

    Cons

Seems like some management can be vindictive. If you oppose them and are right, it can come back and bite you.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to "Get" people for little things.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Olin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Hour overtime constantly available - forced and voluntary.

    Cons

Antiquated upper and middle management as well as processes. CEO Joe Rupp broke their Brass Division and they move him over to run their Winchester Division?

    Advice to Management

Stick with managers who are knowledgeable and forward thinking. Clean out your current crop of backstabbing politicians. They and their insecurities do nothing more than cost the company money. Invest some money in that dump.
