I have been working at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, managers will work with your schedule if they like you.

    Cons

A lot of favoritism especially if you are male. If you are good at kissing up to the managers you will have the best schedule and best money-making stations. If you are hard working but quiet you're better off somewhere else because you will have horrible sections and not enough shifts. They don't promote women or even give women the same respect or treatment. The kitchen staff is abused, especially the ones who mainly speak Spanish. It is very hard to make decent money due to unlimited refills, never ending pasta, and other constant promotions. You work very, very hard for very little money. The managers comp entire meals for guests for any little thing so more and more people are finding this out and complaining after their meal is over to get a free meal and leave no tip. Most of the good quality servers left or are leaving because they are tired of working so hard for so little money. The negative environment rubs off on almost everyone after a while and no one helps out with anything so we are always out of ice, glasses, etc.

    Advice to Management

Be fair with schedules and sections, or if you are going to assign "good" sections and shifts, give them to people who work for them and deserve them, not the people who are good at stroking your ego. Stop treating the female and minority employees like they are less, stop giving away the food because it attracts low quality clients. If employees are happy they will work better and they won't leave which means more money for you.
