I have been working at Oliver Wyman full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Plenty of opportunities to work on interesting projects that impact the client. Great culture of nurturing junior consultants. Great people who make the long hours enjoyable.

Cons

Like most top management consulting companies, Oliver Wyman requires consultants to travel to clients every week.

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Oliver Wyman full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Interesting work, exposure to multiple industries and potential for international assignments (as US has been lagging Asia in terms of work)

    Cons

    - Toxic environment, localised talent pools means outsiders are prone to get blame for anything (and something will) goes wrong
    - Partners are straying from core finance and risk areas into uncharted territories. Results in ambiguous outcomes and poor staffing / execution
     - Lack of cohesion in senior ranks makes for difficult practice building. Attempts to offset through aggressive client management, which in turn means lack of follow through on most engagements

    Advice to Management

Either cultivate leadership (more than just sending people to b-schools) or recruit outside partner blood (and cull non-performing partners)

I worked at Oliver Wyman as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, great culture, the more upward mobility than many other consulting firms.

    Cons

A higher proportion of less interesting data analysis/ implementation work; fewer 'sexy' strategy products. Can be pigeon holed into financial services.

    Advice to Management

    Focus more on work-life balance.
