Pros

They have a lot of happy hours and the salary.

Cons

Some of the worst Senior Management I've ever encountered. They have no clue how to give good, smart direction or utilize their employee's best talents. Generally, you have two maybe three superiors that are never on the same page when giving direction, which makes one spin his/her wheels and impossible to do a good job. They make going into work everyday extremely a job in itself.

Advice to Management

Take a serious look at the way you run things internally because nobody is happy there. It's just a job to them.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Summer hours and weekly BBQs are a huge plus. I've made good friends at OLSON.

    Cons

Creatives are over-worked and unhappy with the Exec Creative Director and Group Creative Directors. There's been a huge shift in upper management recently. Most creatives I've talked to since I've left are actively seeking new jobs because they hate working at OLSON. The company was great years ago, but has gone downhill quickly.

    Advice to Management

Most creatives don't respect the Exec Creative Director and Group Creative Directors. The GCDs make the Creative Directors and Art Directors execute their bad ideas and there's never enough time to execute campaigns well. It's sad because OLSON used to be a good place to work. Unfortunately, they made the mistake of promoting the wrong people to their highest positions. Most of the Creative Directors are great to work with and well-respected. Currently, over 50% of the creative staff are looking to leave.

    Pros

You are able to work on nice brands and the people who work there are friendly. Summer hours (if you're able to take them).

    Cons

Competitive environment, long daily hours and weekend hours, Management structure is poor.

    Advice to Management

Listen to concerns from junior staff. Structure is too top-heavy. Be more timely in giving performance reviews. People get promoted too quickly and don't have management experience. Not very family-oriented because you're always forced to work long hours and weekends.
