Thank you for your feedback. I am glad to hear that you found this to be a flexible and multicultural environment to work. I do appreciate the feedback that our culture can feel weighted towards an American style, and it as something we are actively reviewing, including the hiring of external consultants to bring more expertise to this question. It is important that we create an inclusive culture where staff from many nationalities and backgrounds can feel at home and supported to do their best work. Regarding staff pay packages, all staff in the same job level and location, regardless of nationality, earns the same pay. While packages vary by job level and location, we believe that all staff should earn a sustainable living while working here, and we are comprehensively reviewing our benefits to ensure that they are equitable and fair for all staff. Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback. All the best in your career. - Andrew Youn

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. I’m glad to hear that you feel connected to our mission to serve farmers and impact rural communities. I appreciate your feedback on our compensation. We strive to ensure that staff earn a sustainable living, and periodically adjust for cost of living to ensure they are both fair and competitive nationally. In 2022, we simplified and expanded our pay ranges – the minimum and maximum salaries available at each job level – so that most staff can now earn more raises within each job level for strong performance, and ensure that our pay and benefits structures and policies are results-oriented, fair, and financially sustainable. All the best in your career. — Eric Pohlman

Pros

One Acre Fund is full of passionate and extremely knowledgeable individuals.

Cons

The pay is low and the benefits could be better, there is quite a gap between program and non-program as well as field and office staff, the recruitment process is very long and time consuming (think months long and many rounds of tests) without being compensated for your tme.

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. I’m glad to hear you have found an environment and colleagues that help you thrive and do meaningful work. I am also glad that working here is a great learning experience for you. Equitable pay: We are deeply committed to creating a great workplace. To date, we have restructured salary scales for staff, introduced additional benefits for junior-level staff, and instituted consistent performance standards. We continue to invest in our efforts to ensure equity and fairness become part of the lived experience for all staff. Recruitment: I am sorry to hear the process felt long and tiring. We appreciate that our candidates are busy and we aim to respect their time. As much as possible, we let candidates know what to expect throughout the application process. This information is also available on our website - https://oneacrefund.org/work-with-us/application-process/application-process/. That said, over the past two years, we’ve made significant changes to our hiring process in response to candidate feedback and developments in global recruitment best practices. For instance, over the last several years, we’ve reduced the number of questions on our application by about 25%, and we have made great progress in shortening the length of our hiring time to about six weeks on average. All roles at the organization go through the same hiring process [explained here: https://oneacrefund.org/work-with-us/applying/]. For all prospective job candidates, we use a structured hiring process in order to assess strengths, experiences, and skills. Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. — Eric Pohlman
