I worked at One Kings Lane

    Pros

Transparency across all levels of the company. Smart and strategic leadership team. There are always opportunities for learning. Employees have the chance to participate in multiple projects that are outside of their day to day scope. OKL offers flexibility and a great work life integration.

    Cons

The Bed Bath and Beyond culture can present challenges at times but the OKL President and Leaders have navigated the cultural differences effectively to ensure the OKL culture stays in tact.

I worked at One Kings Lane for less than a year

    Pros

Nice office in Hudson Square, free snacks, many friendly employees.

    Cons

To be fully transparent, the company is struggling to survive and has been on a slow decline over the last few years. Taking a job here would be a risk because they may be out of business in the near future. Staffing is very limited and the buying team is only half the amount of people it used to. The responsibilities are quite a lot with very little verbal or financial acknowledgment. They had been on a hiring freeze for a while so a good amount of the team was temps. The company also has a large diversity problem. To give you an idea, refer to the company's IG page and look at the post from International Women's Day (March 8th 2020). That picture is pretty indicative of what the level of diversity at OKL is like . At the time of my departure, there was only one (out of about 10) POC that was full time on the buying team. There is also a huge lack of communication with some of the senior buyers so any real sense of a career path or growth within the company is hard to establish. The HR and IT department are both very VERY slow to respond to inquiries so expect extreme delays if you ever need to reach out to them.
