I worked at OneAmerica full-time

Pros

Fellow employees, benefits, HQ'd in Indy, travel.

Cons

Sometimes way too conservative in investments, somewhat parochial and closed-minded, Law Department tries to control every aspect of the company.

Advice to Management

Advertise more, don't be such a quiet company.

I worked at OneAmerica full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, free parking and great location

    Cons

Salary scale is VERY low compared to other local companies. Technology is very outdated. Culture is very odd and old fashioned...every initiative must be discussed to death before implementing. Décor is outdated and it was like being transported back into the 80's! Maybe insurance is just boring as a whole.

    Advice to Management

You have some things going for you but need to make a big push to bring your company and technology into current day standards.

I worked at OneAmerica full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Pension, health clinic, free parking

    Cons

Does not address ethics violations, hires "friends of friends" rather than qualified candidates, customers do not come first, technology is outdated and no focus to update, environment created is stressful and unhealthy

    Advice to Management

Invest in better systems rather than committees to promote process improvement; you cannot reinvent the wheel year after year. Focus more on candidates with the right skill set and less on employee referrals when considering interviewing/hiring for positions. Get feedback from employees regarding their work environment and manager's performance then address issues accordingly. Allow ethic breaches to be reported anonymously and address immediately.
