I worked at OpenText full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Dynamic company with lots of interesting work.
    Growing Company
    Paid well
    Good benefits

    Cons

    Lots of acquisitions.
Managed acquired companies by financial performance, not potential.
Remote and acquired offices do not feel like part of the company.

    Advice to Management

Evaluate talent in remote offices and acquisitions and recognize the value to the company.

I felt Open Text was a great place to work because of my coworkers in my local office. I stayed for a long time because of a sense of family with the people I worked with.

When we were acquired by Open Text that sense of family was lost. Open Text needs to work to maintain that sense of family in companies they acquire and cultivate those values to make their worldwide staff more dedicated to the company.

I worked at OpenText full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed management style, laid back culture. You can be a few minutes late returning from lunch or break, nobody has a cow. No micromanagement which is usually prevalent in phone jobs.

    Cons

Willy nilly training on proprietary product, commodity service, company is shedding revenue at about 30% per annum.

    Advice to Management

    Find another gig.
