Pros

Great people to work with, fast pace, have a lot of traction in the oil and gas and also in public sector

Cons

No time to train, very little support from upper management, roadmaps are never respected

    Pros

Security of a large firm certainly allays any fears of the company being acquired, in this case they are the big fish eating the small. The company does have a strong focus area in the content management space.

    Cons

They just keep buying smaller companies without fully digesting what they have, all to make the balance sheet look good. The nett effect is a very mismatched organisation with no sense of a common culture and many business units acting as if they are competing with one another. the company that I was with was acquired by OpenText in 2013 and when we asked the COO if he had any idea of what the technology offered, he openly said "No, but the balance sheet looked good, so we bought it". Needless to say, I left shortly afterwards.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing exclusively on shareholder value and become more people centric. Your employees are the gold, not just the money in the bank.
