Current Employee - Senior Principal Applications Developer
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

stability in work, very few groups effected by the acquisitions... and all parallel groups are being grown paralley.. Ranges from java developer in tools to application developer, flexibility to work remotely, move to different groups

    Cons

too big company, too many procedures., too many templates to fill, can be inefficient. It can be overwelming for new hire.. there is people directory site, which may be of some help, but not completely helpful.. There are lot of inhouse tools, quite close to on market tools, but some differences, will take time to get used.

  2. "Oracle has incredibly smart people, an aggressive and fast-paced culture with generally poor management."

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

In most cases, you can work from the office or home. The people are overwhelmingly smart and skilled in their roles. The culture is competitive and individualistic which creates an environment where people are constantly trying to get more done and do it better. There is constant change and that keeps things interesting.

    Cons

Management at Oracle is generally poor and HR provides little oversight. In fact, HR provides no value for employees and little to no value for managers. It is an extremely process-heavy company that is fiercely risk resistant. This is only mitigated by the CEO's intelligence and risk-taking. Employee satisfaction is not a consideration around any executive office decision-making. Oracle, while reasonably ethical in business terms, is cold, mean and self-centered.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to take an active role in employee retention and career management. All managers should be required to complete employee reviews and log them in the system.
