I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - working at home
    - immediate managers are decent, cannot say the same for higher up in the food chain who are out of touch with what we do
    - no dress code
    - good co-workers who are willing to assist

    Cons

    - no flex time, strict 8:30 to 5:30 shift
    - no training where we can be more effective in our work and the lack of documentation
    - also overseas colleagues don't do their work and we in the US not only have to do our own work but do their work as well
    - management chain is overseas and their favoritism to workers in India and Egypt over the Americans is obvious
    - mandatory certifications but no time to prepare for them and we are expected to work for them in our own time
    - SDM (Sales Development Managers) getting involved in our work and will throw us under the bus to look good to the customer
    - mandatory weekend work, only consolation is OT pay but we are expected to do at least one or two Sat/Sun's per month due to lack of headcount

    Advice to Management

    - Do away with the 8:30 to 5:30 shift work and give employees a choice of what kind of hours they want to work. Some would be happy to start and get off late and others, early
    - shift hours are not family friendly since I cannot do things with my kids after work and should be made more family friendly
    - when we are expected to support new product features, be nice to have training for it and documentation to go along
    - since we are hourly, if we are expected to get certifications, we need time to work on preparing for certifications
    - SDM's should not be involved with Support except through a manager
