I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Oracle is a solid, stable company with excellent benefits and salary. The company provides a great onsite gym, free soda and coffee and spacious work environment. The hours are reasonable and the company is flexible with work arrangements (flexible hours, working from home, etc.)

Cons

Most people in my group went for years without a salary increase. This may be getting better now, however. ADF framework is mandatory for most software development projects whether it's the right technology or not. This limits exposure to other technologies that are popular in the industry.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great learning opportunity for an individual to learn a lot of different skills. This not only includes technology but also engaging and working with diverse groups of people.

    Cons

Oracle acquired many companies over the years which lead to its growth fiscally and technically, which is good. However, the company's DNA changed, which was not always a good thing as different and often less competent employees joined the company.

    Advice to Management

Try to maintain the quality of your employees even through periods of stress.

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

salary is outstanding if you have the right product and accounts
independence - bringing in business is goal #1
looked at as the premier sales org in tech sales, recruiters are always knocking on your door

    Cons

    big company politics
    internal competition
not a place for the faint hearted, it is a culture that either works for you or doesn't
each year I could be selling something different, e.g i spend months building credibility/relationships and the top management decide i no longer have responsibility to sell (or get credit for it).

    Advice to Management

increase communication to the sales org. recorded messages blasted to the org is not really productive. townhalls with sales management perhaps.
