I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Flexible work culture, most people work can work from home (yes, forever!!)
    - Work-life balance, you get what you signed-up for, that includes less work and same pay for years!!
    - Non-challenging work due to outdated technologies and mediocre management.

    Cons

    - Very bad for technology people, you can get lazy and outdated.
    - No talent recognition, being a 5/5 or 2/5 is the same with no perks/compensation
    - Mediocre Management heavy ..which doesn't care
    - No talented hires except coming from acquisitions, who leave eventually.
    - subpar products (except database) milked for revenue and a strong salesforce that sells them.

New-grads, run and don't look back.

    Advice to Management

    Go F*** yourselves.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Superb work-life balance with a very flexible work schedule. Very professional company with competent, professional staff. Great opportunity for a self-starter to learn management and organizational skills.

    Cons

Hiring process took nine months. Mentors are non-existent. Performance reviews are usually skipped every year, or not taken seriously. Very poor career growth opportunities. Project management skills are very poor across the board. Salary stayed the same the entire time I worked there, even though I outperformed every year - it's not unusual to be underpaid 20-30% after spending a long time at Oracle. Architecture is a decade old - which means few opportunities to learn new technical skills, and any advanced skills you have will atrophy.

    Advice to Management

Fix the broken hiring process. At least provide salary increases that keep up with inflation - new hires get paid more than their managers and senior staff. Provide yearly 360 performance reviews and make an effort to identify career growth opportunities.
