I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Flexibilty - of timings, and where you work from as long as you can deliver. Stimulating intellectual environment, some great people in middle / senior management from whom you can learn a lot if yo want to.

Cons

salary hikes lag the market, performance is not always rewarded, a bit bureaucratic in terms of promotions, hikes. Inter team transfers are a pain.

Advice to Management

encourage internal transfers rather than blocking them.
Transfers from people in IDC to US is allowed in other places like Microsoft, Amazon. There is no reason why that should be a strict no in Oracle.

I worked at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - The people make all the difference. Some real talent and it has been a pleasure to work with them. I've made some good friends here.
    - International replacement possible to almost any location Oracle has an office.
    - Great place to learn.

    Cons

    - Too much training, that doesn't give real value in helping speak to prospects.
    - Company believes that relationships don't matter, as they have the products.
    - Management in general have little or no sales experience, making it hard to have a conversation about deals.
    - Way too many deal reviews, with no real value to anyone.
    - Most managers and sales support staff work harder on justifying their role than actually working.

    Advice to Management

Re-structure the management team. Decrease the number of first-line managers to a more realistic ratio, as there is no underlying need for "baby-sitters". Learn to listen to your sales staff - no matter what you believe, you can still learn a thing or two.
