I worked at Oracle full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Just about everyone seems to have autonomy. Lots of nice people.

Cons

If you're not good at being autonomous, you're gonna have a bad time. Things can also be quite chaotic -- if you miss any team meetings, which like all meetings are 90% wastes of time -- you're apt to miss something crucial, leaving you behind in the dust.

Advice to Management

Try not to fire everyone when the stock price dips?

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent work hours. Great benefits. A wide range of training and personal development resources are available to all employees, so take advantage of it from the get-go. If you do join, go in with a plan and get the experience you need to move on to the next job. Better yet, have that next job in mind so you know exactly what skills you need. Oracle is well known for being a tough place to work, so a decent run here earns you a badge of honor.

    Cons

Very political environment with little opportunity to advance unless you're a friend of management.
Many inexperienced micro-managers who only know how to manage by intimidation
Below market salaries, delays in comp plans, and lots of problems getting paid correctly on commissions.
Growing trend of offshoring inside sales to low cost centers.

    Advice to Management

Make an attempt to retain your long term employees. They hold a wealth of knowledge and are an asset. There has been a steady exodus of veterans, and even after a couple of years on the job, the replacements still lack the experience and background to fill the void.

    Pros

Global company, great if you are in a good group.

    Cons

Comes with all the large company drawbacks

    Advice to Management

Empower small teams and give them lots of technical freedom to innovate.
