Pros

In the past ORACLE UGBU was a great place, was a great learning and provided real Team work, real winning spirit, strong growth and significant new client wins. There was strong entrepreneurial drive in the main theaters in US, EMEA, APAC and a strong commitment from the SVP, to the regional VP and every single member.

Cons

The senior management changed almost every 12month which created significant disruptions, created doubt and destroyed moral and performance of the teams. Furthermore current senior UGBU management is very egocentric - autocratic and is conducting hiring and promotions based on nepotism - favoritism rather than on merit and performance.

Advice to Management

1st) Self-assessment of the senior management and their principles
2nd) Fostering a culture of trust, transparency and retaliation free communication
3rd) Recognizing performance and loyalty over favoritism and hypocrisy

I have been working at Oracle full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Rapaciously aggressive sales force that is pushed to promise anything to anyone for a buck keeps the pipeline full
    - As an industry standard DB, it keeps everyone's technical abilities up to speed
    - Good health insurance available (for now)

    Cons

    - no salary increases/bonuses for years
    - very little commitment by management for operational delivery, issues of responsibility or delivery can be unaddressed forever. Always time for "hair on fire" let's finally get some customer's issues addressed, absolutely no time to figure out why that always happens
    - lots of responsibility pushed down the management chain with absolutely no way for those at the bottom to affect any change or deliver what the customer expects. Which ends up with a lot of "it is some other team's fault" situations

    Advice to Management

Quit with the happy talk Senior Executive "Town Hall Meetings" - they simply emphasize just how little you understand of what is happening in operations. Perhaps actually talking to some of the people at the bottom of the chain might give you some reality insight.
