    Pros

    As a begining tech you are exposed to many different types of technology. From basic PC support, to using programs such as SharePoint, being responsible for troble shooting servers and switches, uploading user accounts to software programs as well as sound equipment and interactive white boards.

    Cons

    It is very difficult to advance in a technical position. While you are exposed to technology on a tier 1 support level it is rare that you will get indepth experience in anything other than PC and end user support.

    Advice to Management

    Offer advancement opportunities to those already working instead of hiring outside for higher tech positions.

    Pros

    Decent benefits package
    Desirable location to reside in (Orlando area)
    Newer schools have decent technology available to faculty and students

    Cons

    Size of district (too large)
    Pay is lower than other districts
    Easy to find a teaching job
    Urban district with "typical" urban school issues
    Students are not held accountable for anything. All responsibility for failure is on the teacher or school.

    Advice to Management

    I'm sure this would vary from school to school:

    Implementing a uniform dress code would be helpful.

    Supporting teachers, especially new teachers, with classroom management issues (sitting through seminars/PD classes are not enough...just sitting in a classroom learning about what may work doesn't help).

    There needs to be more effort from administration to permanently remove disruptive and insubordinate students from classroom. Often it takes major infractions (fighting, weapon or drug possession) to remove a student from school. Disruptive students usually only get a "slap on the wrist" with a few days of suspension, which just allows the student to return to the classroom with more animosity for the teacher and shows students that they can act up and get a vacation from doing work.
