I worked at Orlando Health full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

* Steady employment (when they're not eliminating positions)
* Paid time off/Sick pay
* Diversity; interact with coworkers/patients of varied cultures and backgrounds
* Opportunity for advancement in the hierarchy of positions within one's department
* Set hours and opportunity for O/T (again, when they're not eliminating positions)
* Decent cafeteria food at Winnie Palmer hospital

Cons

* Work load & services offered with less employees to do the job
* Constantly short staffed
* Low employee morale
* Differential cuts = no incentive to stay any longer
*** Loss of knowledge base due to experienced employees & "veterans" being laid off :-(
* Patient care IS suffering -and in some cases, the focus is on volume rather than safety
* KRONOS time keeping - requires you to live your live down to the minute otherwise you will acquire a series of "Red Boxes" which can be used to terminate employment. The punch-in/fingerprint scanner created long lines but luckily they have upgraded to badge/swipe & fingerprint
* Ridiculous campus layout & BFE parking garages that don't connect to the building, forcing you to walk in the cold and/or rain. And G-d forbid you clock in one minute late...
* Dirty hospital due to cutting back on housekeeping personnel

Advice to Management

Advice to Upper Management/Administration:
* Don't forget that you too can be replaced - just ask Sherrie Sitarik
* Nurses and Ancillary staff can only take so much abuse
* Coining the term "Value Creation" was a condescending, patronizing slap in the face to employees
* Stop blaming medicare cuts and Obamacare - Florida Hospital is is non-profit too and yet they are rapidly expanding

    I have been working at Orlando Health full-time

    Pros

    You get to work for people from diverse background. Free parking

    Cons

    Rigid, limited/lack of resources to do work efficiently, lots of excuses pointing back at useless and impractical policies. Colleagues are unprofessional, many people called off work lead to shortage in staffing. Way too many tiers of leadership team supervisors, and managers. Many of repetitive emails by the same of of people relating the same thing over and over again. No guidance/ leadership if you work during the weekend or overnight.

    Advice to Management

    some departments spend a lot of money buying machines that now sits around and not being use.
    Poor allocation of resources but top management never check on this.
    Leadership don't want to lift a finger once promoted. People in leadership position took the liberty in promotion to sit back and enjoy what they think they deserve. Which is all bs when it's all about smooching people in the management team.
