Pros

Benefits are great. My assignments are great to work with. My coworkers are also great.

Cons

Management doesn't listen. There is too much bureacracy and management needs to listen to "staff" needs, and not just "lawyers."

Advice to Management

See downsides.

I worked at Orrick as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly, supportive, and welcoming culture; open-door policy; challenging and varied work; friendly co-workers (attorneys and staff); ability to work cross-office regularly; stellar managing partner. The attorneys appeared to have a strong work/life balance, and staff seemed happy. I would return as an attorney in a heartbeat.

    Cons

Truly, I couldn't find any, but I was only there less than one year as an intern, and since I did not have full benefits, I cannot speak to that characteristic of the company.

    I worked at Orrick full-time

    Pros

Great exposure as a fresh graduate to corporate law, drafting prospectus
Opportunities to be at the printer with bankers and auditors

    Cons

Long hours and no overtime given your professional status (A secretary would receive an hourly rate while paralegal as a professional would not be entitled to)
Work ends past 9 pm every night, may have to work over weekends and holidays
Do the same work as a trainee lawyer and yet gets paid less than half of what a trainee lawyer makes

    Advice to Management

Paralegals should be compensated at an hourly rate
More guidance to what projects are involved
    More opportunities for career advancement
