Pros

Overstock.com treats you like an adult. They understand that people make mistakes and deal with that professionally and develop people to become better employees. Thus making the whole company better.

Cons

At Old Mill location, no cafeteria or few eating places for lunch. Parking is a joke and could be improved (first come first serve would be better than divvying out passes in no order)

Advice to Management

A few minor tweaks and this company could be SUPER-DOOPER Excellent!

    I worked at Overstock.com full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The environment is laid back and the work environment is quite casual. People get the things done and I believe that is what management cares about.

    Cons

Too much bureaucrat management, the projects do not just kickstart. Lot of promises but no results. because of the planned projects, they do recruit resources and then nothing. People run away and the company has attrition issues. And when you resign from company, they are so much worried about the relocation bonus that they paid. To recover the money, they have attorney at the exit interview to intimidate the employee and threaten them with confiscating car if money is not returned. This talks a lot of about culture and values of the company.

    Advice to Management

Please get yourself organized, look at the processes and start to balance resources with the work you have. Look at your HR processes and stop harassing outgoing employees.
