Pros

Working within the manufacturing facilities, you were allowed to voice your opinion and drive change. In addition, you were allowed to take on as much responsibility as you determined. The organization was focused on waste elimination based on continuous manufacturing of a product well into it's product cycle.

Cons

To advance within Owens Corning requires relocation. After a while, moving becomes a problem if your spouse is employed or children are in school. Senior level Management is hired from outside the organization and many do not have a foundation of the products, processes, or personnel. Without this foundations, several bad decisions are made.

Advice to Management

Promote and develop from within. Outside managers tend to bring in initiatives that realize immediate gains. Sometimes those actions may leave a large liability, especially after the new manager has been promoted or bounced to another organization.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

The senior leadership are all very accessible and visible to all employees. It is very obvious how much the company cares about safety.

    Cons

Based out of Toledo. Very little to do in downtown Toledo other than going to the AAA Mudhens baseball games.

    Advice to Management

You do a great job of running the internship program however it reflects poorly to have such a large disparity between intern salaries.

  2. "Very Political"

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

World headquarters is an amazing building! Everyon is in at 8 AM and gone by 5 PM. People are generally very friendly and the pay is good. Lots of opportunity for growth on a professional skills level.

    Cons

Very political. Promotions and moves within the company do not have the appearance of talent driven. If you speak your mind, keep your eye in the rear view mirror. This corporation is not different than any other corporation; when they ask for your oppinion, not sure if they really want it.

    Advice to Management

If you want honesty, be prepared to hear it. Companies do not grow from going with the flow. A lot to offer, just better suited in the field vs. a political corporate office.
