I have been working at PA Consulting Group full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Interesting work and chance to operate across a wide range of sectors, companies and organisations. Consultancy gives chance to broaden network and skill-base. Definitely a meritocracy with promotion on ability and fair evaluation of skills, performance and potential.

Cons

Processes can slow things down with hoops to jump through. Limited autonomy for non-partners means that progress can be slow and decisions can be painful.

I worked at PA Consulting Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - You end up doing nothing for months but still get paid :) So its best for people who want to do nothing and still get salary or run their personal businesses.
    - A few have reaped good benefits by being good to Partners(Ar Li) and also being favoured all in the open by their LM's.
    - Work life balance is always at extremes at both end with majority of the period being towards having no work and warming the so called hot desks.
    - Office location
    - Bonus is outside CTC

    Cons

    - A company being run such that only Partners make money.
    - Highly dependent on UK govt projects, though most of them end up making headlines for the wrong reasons.
    - Middle management at S&I Bangalore is full of incompetent people who have stayed back as they cannot get another job elsewhere or being paid way too much to leave this easy going life. They call themselves managers, however as time passes by, they go down in terms of skill and competency. You can imagine what you will end up doing if you stayed long.
    - Currently they do not have a critical mass also to stay in the market, looking at the rate people are leaving. No effort is taken to retain anybody whether he is from Bangalore or elsewhere.
    - You find managers fighting with customer care people all in the open, trading on the stock market and disturbing a few who work. However they are still the ones that get the most year after year.
    - It's nothing but a body shopping shop at S&I Bangalore. No vision, no growth only aim is to place you in some project without doing any fitment analysis. You will be a master of nothing and also a jack of nothing. They call this consulting :)
    - You see regular mails from manager to pool opinions against people who they want to leave to secure their position.
    - Sad sad sad. It's a trap that will make you so lazy that, the longer you stay the more sure you get that you will not find a job elsewhere
    - So many more.

    Advice to Management

Don't call yourself an equal opportunity employer when you don't practice it in real.
Implement within your organization what you advise to clients first.
Devote more of the bonus pool to the implementers than to the old outdated partners.
