Pros

Sometimes you get great coworkers and you might stumble across a caring owner doctor and manager Paid time off (only when you get approved to use it though )

Cons

Started in 2011 as a dental assistant and when I left I was a treatment cordinator handing specialty and GP. I basically placed this job ahead of my family. I have 3 kids and never once went to any highschool functions for my 2 oldest because offices I was in were ALWAYS short staffed . My youngest I got to go to 1 school awards and 2 parent conferences. Basically my partner and family raised my kids. I pushed off vacations with my family because always short staffed. Opened offices and stayed over closing because always short staffed and under pressure to collect $$ fill schedules. When we earned a bonus for doing well that was great at least with that and my pay I felt like my hard-work paid off. Once they took that away after covid , after taxes and benefits my checks were maybe if I was lucky 1100 every two weeks. I worked in orange county region /San diego and ended in Inland empire. Since 2011 to when I left in 2022 looking at my raises I made not kidding $2.50 cents over all those years. My last region Inland empire recognized how hard I worked and most of that $2.50 cent increase came from them. I left PDS making $21.25 after working there from 2011 to 2022. MANY long timers just get comfortable and worry they can't find anything better. YOU CAN... stop giving away YOU to s company that preaches they care but thsy just want to work you to the bone. When I left my stress was high , I physically felt ILL all the time. They only thing I enjoyed about the job was my office I was lucky to finally find. I left for a private office and I went from $21.25 to $31.75 an hour and yes I don't get ALL of the benefits I had with PDS but it was the first time I a LONG time thst I felt I could finally Breathe! My kids are all out of school so I missed that part of their life working fir PDS but finally I feel ALIVE and actually a life outside of work. SO YES you can find better YES you deserve better (you know who you are those hard workers, you YES people) DO NOT OYT THIS JOB BEFIRE HEALTH AJD FAMILY you will regret it later. 3 different regions many offices and OMs and my last was the one thst finally appreciated wjat I gave but by that time PDS broke me.

Pros

the office is law compliant

Cons

They say it is ethical environment, but in reality it is not like this. They talk about work-life balance, but they do not care if you become very tired or burned out. The ceo, regional manager and higher management, they do not really care about you or your dental license. For them it is better you act not ethical and make more money, instead of being ethical and making less. They show nice image outside, but everything is about money, no matter who gets hurt. For many years they do not increase compensation for dentists they call partners, but at the same time they charge them big amounts, so people cannot keep what they earn. If one or two businesses fail, they do not care, because they use it like write-off, and you are left paying the cost. They say you have auto-nomy, but actually they push you to over-diagnose. If you do not follow this, you are pushed out. Also there is big issue that management people are not from healthcare background. They think mostly about profit, and real patient care becomes second priority. They make millions and millions from dentist backs, and they do not care about you unless you are part of their close inner group in each area.
