Smart colleagues, generally interesting work, good comp.

Cons

Very little work/life balance and difficult to sustain in long term.

Advice to Management

Introduce 360 reviews and revisit the review process in general to add more value.

    I worked at PIMCO full-time

    Pros

    One of the top asset managers
    Had the opportunity to interact with a lot of senior people during time there
    Cyclical and Secular forums are interesting opportunity to listen to high-profile speakers and investment committee members

    Cons

    Work expectations are high-- PIMCO expects excellence which can affect your work-life balance
    PIMCO operates on a lean staffing model
    As with most financial firms, pay is highly skewed towards most senior people

    Learning opportunities are good but work more on creating a transparent and fair review process and promote more employees internally

    Great medical benefits and 401k plan.
    Nice location.
    You work with many smart, talented, and driven people.

    Cons

    No work life balance.
    Company will work you to the bone.
    Taking a lunch break is discouraged.
    Being promoted from within is very difficult if not impossible.
    Conformist thinking
    People have been there so long, they lose perspective and think Pimco is the only option for a career.

    Advice to Management

    Invest time and resources into associate level employees. Invest training in managers.
