I have been working at POWER Engineers full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Relaxed culture where having a beer at lunch and wearing shorts are not frowned upon.

Senior management is more visible and approachable as compared to senior management at similar sized companies.

Company is doing great financially and growing rapidly.

IT network and applications are far superior to other companies of this size and even larger.

Meridian office is modern looking and comfortable.

Benefits, 401k, and bonus programs are well run.

Cons

Project Managers get too much credit and compensation. Meanwhile the engineers, drafters, and even department managers are under-compensated. This results in high turnover in those areas.

Company ownership is based on the good old boy network and who you know. Ownership has little to do with actual accomplishments or work performance.

Advice to Management

Don't lose your company culture during this fast paced period of growth. Address the over-compensation of project managers. Fix the ownership issue by rewarding strategic thinkers and leaders and not by using the current popularity contest.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at POWER Engineers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Gives ample opportunities to learn new projects. Got to dabble in various different aspects of power systems like protection, stability, grounding etc.

    Cons

Give too much importance to internal processes which at times "dums down" one's creativity. Following processes is almost a pressure while performing the job and the "fun" aspect of learning something new is lost in trying to cope with the so called "quality" aspect.

"Don't read low reviews. If they rated 1 star they got fired and for good reason"

I have been working at POWER Engineers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great culture.
    Wonderful productive staff.
    Rewards productivity and innovation.
Economically and environmentally sound and forward thinking.
Promotes from within, and bottom-line driven.
Solid support staff that are recognized for the important roles they play.
Meaningful projects and production that employees can get behind.

    Cons

If you don't want to adapt to production levels and be a part of a team environment then this isn't the place for you. (except that is obviously a Pro, not a Con)

    Advice to Management

Be more efficient with removal of aggressive and inexperienced staff that make socially offensive comments and promote hostile work environments.
