    Positive Outlook

I worked at PUC Schools as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

School-based counseling means school-based hours and weekends and holidays off! Very competent supervisors, and great community mental health experience in general. Perfect opportunity for those wanting experience with kids, teens, and families. Monthly trainings, many opportunities for supervision hours throughout the week also a perk.

    Cons

Unpaid, high case-load, school-based so little opportunity to work outside normal day time hours if you're someone who needs to work a day job while gaining hours. No opportunity for paid position as a counselor unless you get your PPS certificate.

    Advice to Management

I had a wonderful experience. Keep Nicole Nardon a supervisor for as long as you can! Her developmental approach is perfect for helping trainees and interns build therapeutic skill. She is incredibly helpful and understanding.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

The staff and students are amazing! Everyone is committed to establishing a strong culture of trust and achievement.

    Cons

Striking a work/life balance can be tricky at times. The school is growing rapidly and like any rapidly growing establishment it is experiencing growing pains along the way.
