Pros

Good innovative products to compete in very competitive global marketplace. Company has great reputation for delivering unique product that work as advertised.

Cons

New product launches full of missteps and create issues for all divisions within company. End users seem to be testing grounds instead of internal test environment.

Advice to Management

Too many people "passing the buck" and not taking responsibility for their mistakes. If Product X is promised by X date and X condition, people should be able to rely on management's committment.

I have been working at Pacific Bearing full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

35 year old company focused on innovative Linear Motion products. Huge opportunities for those who are willing to learn, grow and take responsibility for getting the job done right. Established a joint venture with Moons' in China, the third largest stepper motor manufacturer in the world allowing PBC products to be exported to China. Strong company values. Weekly company meetings for all employees where communications are clear, open and employees are able to ask questions. Very strong leadership in manufacturing, long term employees run the operations with little management oversight. This group knows what needs to be done and management is there to support them. The company weeds out low performing administrative and management rather than laying off the workers. You will see many angry reviews from low performing staff that have been eliminated on Glassdoor! So if you want to work for a company that does not protect underperforming management this would be a great place to work.

    Cons

Underperforming management in the past has hurt the company. These managers surrounded themselves with underperforming individuals and protected them forcing the high performing workers to take an unfair share of the work. People who did not live up to the company's values were left in positions of power too long. This has been fixed, but good people were hurt as a result. If you want the company to train you and you are not willing to take responsibility for some of your training this would not be a place for you.

    Advice to Management

Live up to the company values, hire great people, remove roadblocks that prevent them from excelling, improve training, keep up weekly meetings.

I worked at Pacific Bearing as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is innovative, challenging, and encourages employees to develop. Most companies this size do not have formal systems for review, values, or development planning. This one does. They are always looking out for the next, best way to stay relevant and keep employment in the Rockford area. Highly respect the long term ownership and transition to next generation.

    Cons

If you don't have a "getting better agenda" and just want to coast or like to spend your time complaining about others and living in the past then you will burn out here. There are great opportunities for those folks willing to focus on being part of a future focused team.

    Advice to Management

Keep working to bring in the best talent. The last year you've made some great hires. Keep on being particular. It is paying off. This team is lively, excited, and focused.
