I worked at Paddy Power Betfair full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Location (if you live in West London). There are some great people to work with (not always easy to find though!)

    Cons

Highly political environment, lack of clearly communicated vision/strategic direction, very poor internal communications. Not a fun working environment (which is highly ironic, considering it's a gaming company -- felt more stifling and depressing than working for a large bank/conglomerate). A bit of a race to the bottom as poor performers don't get penalized and good employees aren't rewarded (and therefore get frustrated and leave).

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with respect, not as numbers/cost savings. Reward & make an effort to retain your good employees (it should be pretty obvious who they are). Pay attention to morale - people have many other choices of where to work, you are no longer the *hot* company that everyone is dying to get into. Worry about damage control - you've made 100s of people redundant over the past several months - those former employees are now out in the wild and aren't necessarily painting Betfair in the best light. This will make it very difficult for you to recruit new employees to backfill the void you've created. Remember: people do talk to each other!
