I have been working at Panera Bread full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Generally you come for the paycheck, but stay for the people. The management and associates are generally a good mix and easy enough to get along with.
They work well with school schedules, and there are almost always hours to be found if you want them.

    Cons

They don't pay well, and expect a lot from their employees. The company's rhetorical culture speaks of great things, but the actual employees are omitted from the positive points within the company.

It's just disheartening to put so much care and effort into a business to ultimately realize that they don't care much for any of their people.

    Advice to Management

Upper management - this is a multi million dollar company that customers and employees alike want to be goodwill ambassadors. Change your labor standards to take care of both. If the employees get overworked, they quit. If the customers aren't satisfied, then they go somewhere else too. To avoid this, you could just put one more person on the clock to help out.

I worked at Panera Bread full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Panera Bread was a great place to make new connections and also the food was good, so I never got tired of eating the food

    Cons

The company allows pretty free reign to their district managers. Which is ok if you have a great district manager, unfortunately they are severely lacking in those

    Advice to Management

Keep better track of how your dms' treat the gms. Panera Bread lately seems to have become a lot more bottom line driven than customer service driven. Why should anyone come to P Bread when they can get their lunch in about the same time in full service and get better service.
