Pros

- Customers are generally very nice. There are lots of regulars you will become friendly with.
- Had some positive experiences with coworkers.
- Good discount policy (65% off food)

Cons

- Manager drama. Always bickering between one another.
- Managers were really good at telling me what to do, but quite terrible at doing anything.
- High employee turnover.
- Very inconsistent workplace in many ways.

Advice to Management

Employees don't mind being told what they need to do, but there's an appropriate time. The appropriate time to tell an employee to restock whatever you deem necessary is NOT when there is a line to the door. Ask, and if the employee does a good job with a significant task, thank them. Faking a positive attitude rarely works. I'd rather you do your job and i'll do mine, faking a good relationship is a lot more uncomfortable than being straightforward.

    Pros

    Managers are extremely rude to all associates even the ones who really put forth the work and do their job well. They're honestly only concerned with making money and they don't care how long you stay. You won't be treated well, you aren't allowed more than 40 hours unless you're in management so forget benefits...

    Other associates are usually very good to work with and are often the best part about the job, but there's so little down time it's hard to really get to know them well.

    (Yes these are the pro's to working at Panera.)

    Cons

    Depending on what you're being trained for when you start working for Panera, you will be asked to do quite a few things at once that often you can't handle. For instance, if you're trained for the Dinning Room, you're in charge of every table being cleaned, floors being cleaned, windows/doors being cleaned, bathrooms being cleaned, coffee's and tea's being brewed, everything in the drink stations being kept stocked, making sure all the dishes make it back to whoever is watching them. And if you're really lucky, you can get put on Dish too, and wash EVERY dish, but usually only in a down time or when someone left for a break.

    Managers often loose their temper and patience even in front of customers and often TOO the customers, completely inappropriate in any work setting.

    Advice to Management

    Just learn manners and respect you'd have such a better business if people knew that your own employees were treated well.
