Current Employee - Pizza Delivery Driver in Charlotte, NC

No opinion of CEO

Pros

1) get some cash from tips every night, hopefully gas doesn't est into too much.
2) free pizza to make your kids happy ( occasionally on bad orders)
3) free slice of pizza if you are not tired of it.
4) meet plenty of people as the workers come and go ( so do network by all means)..
5) don't worry about being a felon or a drug test.

Cons

1) opening drivers do all deliveries, make pizza, slap dough, prep food, date and stock, and much more.
2) closing drivers get to do all deliveries across sectors and then wipe counters, sweep flour from the tile crevices, mop, set up store, and etc. No bonus at all with this extra work.
3) never get a raise after receiving "you an asset to papa john review."
4) work well beyond your schedule leave time if it is busy.
5) wait to clock in if it is slow as much as 2 hours but they want you to wait around off the clock until it business picks up.
6) Watch your 6 constantly cause it is the 5th most dangerous job to do. Plus it is minimum wage.

Advice to Management

Stop giving to so much to unproven GM and shift leaders that manipulate service percentages by learning passwords, appreciate the bottom so called unskilled workers some bonus as well. They do get the food to the end user.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

It was a great place to start to learn managment skills and a great place to gain expierience as a young employee

    Cons

The attitudes from people who did not want to be there and work was very bad. People had no motivation.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend that you make it mandatory you make everyone wear gloves except the one person doing dough because it is just a clean idea.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

    Tips
    Flexible Schedule
    50% discount on food purchases
Depending on where you work, you will develop teamwork with your co-workers.

    Cons

Drivers are horribly under compensated. Paid as tip credit employee. Store keeps 50% of delivery fee. $1 per delivery does not compensate for mileage used.
I've been informed that if you are robbed and you have more than $20 on you, that you will be fired. Forget them caring about you getting robbed, just how much money you have on you. That also ties into the incredible stress involved in worrying about getting robbed. This is a VERY DANGEROUS job with ZERO reward or long term prospective. There are also ZERO benefits. They even make you pay for your uniforms. Turnover obviously is very high due to sub minimum wages paid.

    Advice to Management

Look beyond the bottom line, and lining your pockets. They way you treat your front line employees reflects poorly on the overall product. When you treat people like a number, just to be used and discarded, why would you expect any loyalty. I've seen person after person - management included, just used like a number. Don't produce? We'll find someone else to do the job. This is about as thankless a job as there is, and upper management doesn't even know I exist.
