Pros

Parkside Lending has an exceptional company culture - it's casual and yet very professional. Employees are treated with respect and their ideas and opinions are valued whenever upper management is determining a course of action for the company. As as employee at this company, you feel the immediate impact of your work on the company's growth and success. They have a great work/life balance and always make sure that not only are their employees delivering exceptional service, but that they are doing it in a fun and rewarding environment.

Cons

We are a growing company and have begun to hit capacity in our current space, so, at times, we are a little cramped. Other than that, I don't see any downsides.

Glad to hear you had a positive experience while you were here. While we try to mitigate the ups and downs of the industry as much as possible, Unfortunately lay-offs are a part of the volatility of ... More

    Layoffs constantly
    Annual raises

This company is going through some major growing pains and changes. When I first started working for Parkside Lending, it was a much more relaxed work environment with a small family feel to it. Although, the company seemed a little all over the place with no structure whatsoever and inexperienced people in management positions, it worked and everyone seemed happy working here. As time passed, the company grew from doing business only in California to now nationwide,. Several new operations centers opened across the U.S. Management started to change and the culture was completed lost. It was no longer a small family feel work environment, but instead a more corporate, no one knows your name feel. Micromanagement began and all that the new "bosses" do is run reports all day to check on your numbers. That is all that they care about.
Communication is the worst I've ever seen in a company. Things are constantly changing with no one telling anyone what the new procedures are. You learn of the new procedures by someone blasting you to management on your error. It almost feels like they do this on purpose to constantly keep you second guessing yourself.
Layoffs are every single year, usually during January and sometimes more often. People get fired with no warnings constantly. Favoritism is common. Annual reviews are a good example of favoritism. Most people get 1-2% raise, so that the favorites can get 5%. Compared to other mortgage companies, the pay is below average, the bonuses almost non-existent. The best advise I can give is to negotiate your salary before you accept the job because raises are hard to come by.

    Advice to Management

Practice the Power of Caring with your own employees too, not just your clients.
