I worked at Party City full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Fun, fresh product mix that was constantly changing as the seasons did. Halloween was always the premier time to be there.

Cons

Horrible payroll model. No encouragement for assistant to move up the ladder: crappy hours & no support from DM's, no promise of a bonus. Quality of life is affected when you cannot enjoy the very things you sell with your own family because your working.

Advice to Management

Go back to allowing your store managers to think creatively & abandon the "Just like picture" mentality.

I have been working at Party City part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you like the merchandise you do receive a fairly generous discount of 30%.

    Cons

The pay is not only bad, but a bump up to Team Leader (keyholder) is a negligible .15 cent increase.

    Advice to Management

Take your personal grudges elsewhere, district manager is unwilling to terminate general managers with dubious track records. You know when the turnaround rate on your management is every two months then something must be seriously amiss.:

I have been working at Party City part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Halloween is the greatest time of the year for me, even since everyday is extremely fast paced. Helping customers plan a party or event is very fun and interesting and gives you opportunities to be creative.

    Cons

Hostile work environment, horrible pay, and you get treated horrible. They pay newcomers more than the people that work there and treat them better than people that have been there for years.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your sales associates, treat them well, and bump them up to at least the newcomers wages. It's not fair to have to train someone that gets paid more than you for the same job. Plus, if you keep treating the face of your company like that it's going to bite you in the ass.
