I worked at Party City part-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

If you have the right management it is fun and blowing up balloons is great. Employee discount 30% was good.

Cons

Management changing every other month. Hiring management that has no idea what is going on. Payment for staying with the company never changes.

Advice to Management

Increase pay, give better reasons to stay with the company, acknowledge people hitting yearly marks.

I worked at Party City full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

"Owning your zone". Takeing care of your zone from top to bottom, every aspect. Gives the sense of achievment. Helping customers make their events happen. HALLOWEEN.

    Cons

Not enough payroll hours. Not enough time to finish projects, Corporate dosn't seem to think things through before implementing, The joke is that if you don't have to do it three times it's not Party City.At regional level there is a lot of favoritism from AMs and DMs to the general mgrs. And the regional HR person is just a lackey for the middle management. Not the people that she should be serving. Management is unprofessional, swearing on the sales floor. Talking about employees with his own little "clique". Plays favorites with good shifts and open posistions regardless of abilities.

    Advice to Management

Rein in your middle management. Look at regions that have a high turnover. It's not because people cant do the work, It's because your middle management is playing God and getting rid of talented people( that you should be doing everything in your power to keep), just because they don't like them or they feel threatened.

I worked at Party City part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My co-workers were nice and fun to work with. It was also a simple job that involved customer service and running the register.

    Cons

The store manager was not a very good leader. The manager also did not get along well with customers the majority of the time.

    Advice to Management

Don't leave work early just because you can. Also don't provide any project to employees that you wouldn't/haven't done yourself.
