Pros

Pasta Pomodoro is a dynamic place to work; always changing and evolving. The food is great and most of the people are pleasant to work with. Anyone working in the corporate office has a chance to try new initiatives and ways of working, assuming the idea is logical. The owner is generous with free food and espresso for employees and he throws a generous holiday party for all restaurant and office staff. The owner is a generous with his time and works harder than anyone.

Cons

2008 meant hard times for the restaurant because of the economy, so there was a lot of negativity at the corporate office and at some of the restaurants. It may be the same in 2009, but time will only tell. Anyone who is not Italian and working in the corporate office will have a little culture shock. The Italian guys running Pasta Pomodoro don't bother with niceties or deference. Most of the time their rude, but you get used to it. And it is just the way they are. They're not actually trying to be mean. After most conversations with them though, you'll feel insulted and demoralized, but you toughen up.

Advice to Management

Trust who you hire.

I worked at Pasta Pomodoro full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

When the Italians owned the company, it was an incredible place to work. You were a part of the Pasta P family.

    Cons

The Italians no longer own the company. The family turned into a corporate robot.

    Advice to Management

Good luck! Upper management and new corporate team need to take a look at what made Pasta P hugely successful in NoCal for over 20 years. It's all about the food and all of the people that help to bring it to the table.

I worked at Pasta Pomodoro full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture & Values are great; however, weren't really brought to life in the individual restaurants. You really have an opportunity to make a difference.

    Cons

Old school style of management. Talked the talk, but unable to walk the talk. Management style is very much command & control vs. the entreprenurial environment that is touted.

    Advice to Management

Empower your people - they know how to make it happen.
