I have been working at Pathfinder International full-time

    Pros

A great mission to help the developing world. Good benefits. Depending on the team, ability to work from home and reasonable work-life balance. Fair compensation.

    Cons

Management is clueless how to address issues such as lack of staff development, cross-departmental lack of cooperation, poor communication and transparency, demotivated staff, lack of accountability. So they do survey after survey, bring consultants, show fancy power point charts at all staff meetings (charts that consultants prepare and noone really understands but everybody nods their head), pay for coaching for the senior level staff, and promise that this time around it will be different and to anticipate positive change. Management themselves roll their eyes when they talk about it to their staff yet they just follow the party line. Staff just wants to do their job and go home so their attitude is whatever. With the turnover, half of Management are not likely to be working here to see the end results of the next reorg, to assess the accomplishments and to be held accountable if it was not really a success story. And with their replacements, the whole roller coaster ride will start again. No continuity here. It's sad.

    Advice to Management

Stop changing things for the sake of changing things. Let's build on the successes and strengths we have rather than taking a different direction every time a manager changes. Now that we call the smart work groups tiger teams, are we any better?
