I have been working at PayPal full-time (More than a year)

Pros

Some great, smart people to work with;
Decent salary and benefits, but you will work for them (see below).

Cons

Pockets of politics that truly prevent innovation (I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't experience it for myself);
Work/Life balance can be challenging;

Advice to Management

Do away with stack ranking -- it is killing employee morale;
Focus on doing fewer things better;
Do more to ensure that people play nice;
Encourage more collaboration teamwork and less internal competition.

    Pros

    Gives you opportunity to demonstrate your talent.
    Location, Worklife balance improved.

    Cons

    Its worst company to work with.
    Mangers' favoritism. Lot of politics internal to team.
    Managers have no in site in project work. Many things hidden to employees from managment.
    Low graded tools and working on below quality processes. Ask you to change the system. When you try to do so, offense from all side. Stay away from this company.
    Many times heard small layoffs.

    Advice to Management

    Decide strategy to give quality products. Involve mangers to actual project work.

    I worked at PayPal full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Product engineering teams are sharp and some good perks such as free gym access for FTE and shuttle buses to/from SF.

    Cons

    Inept marketing team who doesn't do much besides moan and whine - probably one of the most incompetent I've ever been a part of. Also, not much upward mobility unless you are great at politics. Lots of people here with no value-add.

    Advice to Management

    Don't promise people who work for you something you're not able to deliver. Integrity counts.
