Pros

only positive thing about payless is the benefits, vacation and personal time.

Cons

Payless used to be a nice place to work until matt rubell took over, it all went down hill. too much focus on csats, crm, labor scheduling and talent central. managers dont have time to sit in the back room to do all of it.what happened to having fun,now they want you up the customers ass to sell them anything and everything.the quality of merchandise is poor and the prices have gone up. even the customers that come in have noticed its not the same payless, but is anyone listening....mr. rubel this is not saks fith avenue...hello PAY-LESS not PAY-MORE. too many tasks that have scores related to it, you cant relax its always a negative conference call getting beat up for things you have no control over,,enough already...selling plastic shoes to a bunch of low lifes should not be that difficult......IM FREE AT LAST....

Advice to Management

upper management needs to reevaluate the customer journey, cause it ain't working, managers are scared for their jobs and resort to calling in csats, so it's not a realistic number , stop with the craziness, lets get back to the basics...it worked before it can work again ???

    Pros

Job security. If you do your work you are pretty much guaranteed a job in the future. And at a time when finding a job is difficult... this is a definite plus.

    Cons

Payless wants you to be consumed by them at all times. If you are sick... too bad. If you have a vacation planned you had better let them know months in advance and you should probably leave town if you are management level, as I am, to make sure you ACTUALLY get a vacation. They are very demanding of your time on all levels: from the part time associate who goes to school full time and has a family to the manager who is running TWO stores for the company on a ONE store manager salary.

    Advice to Management

Train your people thoroughly. Follow the CBL's. Do not expect your associates to do everything for you. Lead your team by example.

Good place to work if your in school and need a job with flexable scheduling! Also a good first time job.

    Cons

Not a place for growth. I was with them three years and didnt move up in the company. No raises!!!

    Advice to Management

Do a better job of managing and try distriputing responisbity better. Also from personal experience management was just not supportive to its employee
