Positive Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I worked at Peace Corps as a contractor (More than a year)

Pros

Opportunity to live in a new place and truly integrate with a local community and culture. Participate in local development. Develop soft skills that will become marketable post-service.

Cons

Disconnect between country staff and volunteers, and huge disconnect between Peace Corps HQ and volunteers on the ground. Small stipend, and readjustment allowance post-service is very small.

I worked at Peace Corps full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Being able to apply skills and help communities who have requested assistance. Working abroad and leaning a new culture. Gaining a new perspective on the developing world. Learning about the practical applications of your education.

    Cons

Many hoops to jump through, rules and regulations associated with being a government employee. There is a culture of treating volunteers less like equals/peers in a workplace and more like students who require great supervision.
