Pros

Pay for performance. An opportunity to make a lot of money by gaming the system and figuring out how to keep your numbers up while merely glancing at responses before scoring. This allows you to score more than 100 two page papers an hour, equaling a lot of money.

Cons

The pay scheme cannot be good for the integrity of the scores being given to these kids. Most people have figured out how to know when you are answering a validity response, and how to score based on length. The interreliability numbers don't work either, since most other scorers are doing the same thing. I cant even fathom how many papers were returned to students with scores given by someone who didn't even read their paper.

Advice to Management

Try not to let your customers find out that you are scoring their papers without reading them most of the time!

    Pros

The company vehicle is about the only positive I can spare about this sinking ship and prehistoric no good operation. It's sad I have nothing good to say about this book company.

    Cons

The management at the HQ in NJ is lost and living in the age of the dinosaurs.
The Bad: If you have a family the management team in your region will suggest you ignor them, work 18 hour days and Sample every book known to man to every teacher in your territory. The company computer program called Socrates, is buggy and the laptop they give you is nothing short of a piece of garbage out of the 1970's. If you are married they frown upon it.. If you have kids be sure to see them on weekends as Pearson does not see the value in a family.
All they care about is selling the stupid books and cram that down your throat daily. Who the hell even uses books or will use hard back books with the technology we have today? If you enjoy being a Yes Man then work for this company. If you have two brain cells run from Pearson!

    Advice to Management

Get a clue and wake up. Nobody cares about selling books and forcing teachers to upgrade every semester. The cost of your books is just as insane as your policy and ethical behavior. Fire yourseves and save the headache!

    Pros

    Enjoy working on educational projects
    Great teamwork on smaller teams

    Cons

Red tape -- so much ineffeciency -- internal bureaucracy can be stiffling
    Educational market is very soft
Merit play often does not keep up with inflation -- annual increases for employees doing satisfactory or sometimes extraordinary work does not outpace the rising cost of living

    Advice to Management

Empower employees to get their work done. Too often we must fill out forms or enter information into systems that are not integrated.
