Pros

This company has no pros to work at except for the high salaries they offer out of desperation to fill in positions.

Cons

> Incompetent leadership - the founding team has no idea where the company is heading. They only focus on the revenue without any retainment strategy. > Sales teams are the new milk vending machines - The employees are treated with respect as long as they can cheat on the customers and bring in the monies. > Pepper Content is not SaaS as it is packaged to be - truth is, they are fighting a battle everyday with the good old agencies who have a better network of creators and a much better team to work with for large corporates. To match up to their processes, Pepper too functions exactly like an agency as no one really is comfortable using the platform they've built. In the end it is the internal teams creating dummy projects for revenue tracking. > Terrible state of company culture - for the ones who are friends with the noob management, life is great. For the rest, it can be a nightmare working here. For them a good culture is only the off-sites, merchandise and games every now and then. An employee's well being is far from consideration. And work life balance, what's that? > Pepper loves PIPs - for anybody these 'friends of the management' don't like, there is a PIP in offer.. team managers are merely puppets of the upper management with no voice of their own. Folks with good experience and packages are hired to dance to their tunes. > A highly pretentious environment where everyone is made to believe very highly of the company and themselves with bloated salary packages.

Pros

Writing the actual articles is very straightforward with the briefs they provide. They typically take between 3-5 hours. Payments are "promised" the following pay period. (Expect payment for your work after 5-7 weeks until they have technical difficulties. Then it's anyone's guess and Pepper will pass along their wire fees to you.)

Cons

1) Technical difficulties with payments caused payments to be more than 6 weeks later than promised. Pepper passed on all their wire fees to the contractors and did not pay interest on their late payments. They did not take any responsibility, didn't apologize for missing payments over the holidays, and insinuated that late payments were somehow the writers' fault. 2) Very low pay for the caliber of clients they contract with and quality of work they expect. 3) Unrealistic word count expectations. 4) Miscommunication between client, proofreaders, editors and writers. Editors and proofreaders request changes that are illogical and not aligned with the clients' content or native English practices. 5) Began the contract on the understanding that pay would be per-word -- but they did not pay per word. Instead, they paid a flat rate and insisted on additional words to cover the content of the brief without additional compensation. 6) Does not give any kind of bonus pay for going above and beyond what is asked for with tight turnarounds.
