I have been working at PetSmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

fun atmosphere. You get to play with animals that come in and there is always something new to do.

    Cons

No room for growth. I've been here for two years and never received a promotion or significant raise. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of and my "promotions" are being held over my head to keep me there.

    Advice to Management

    promote from with in

I have been working at PetSmart part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Animals are neat, fun to teach people that will listen.

    Cons

Dealing with standard idiotic retail customers who treat your place of work like a free petting zoo. Immense pressure on employees when satisfaction surveys aren't good, which employees have little control over. Employees are told that customer service is priority but given limited time to complete mandatory tasks. Animals aren't always taken to the vet when pet care associates who know better advise the management to take them. Stores are basically penalized by taking animals to the vet, because the vet bills are charged to the individual store's pet care budget. Customers who throw fits are coddled and given whatever they want. Does not pay anywhere near a living wage for part timers. Limits part time hours to 28 hours per week to avoid paying for employees' health insurance.

    Advice to Management

Don't make unrealistic demands on employees' time.
