I worked at PetSmart full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Untangling/shaving matted hair and seeing how happy the dog is afterwards

Cons

needing to stay after hours to finish haircut (if a difficult dog), retail level pay, not a great life-work balance

I worked at PetSmart part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount, great customers, reasonable perks

    Cons

Expected to work off the clock often. Especially as a trainer, you would be expected to be there 30 minutes early, but clock in right before your first class. You would then be expected to teach 5-6 classes in a row with no break at all, take a 30 minute lunch, and then 30 minutes on the cash register, and then maybe teach 2 more. In the few minutes between classes (that that there was much if any of that) you were expected to sell classes--hard sells, like a used car salesman. You job depended on these metrics.

    Advice to Management

Stop dating each other, the other employees, yelling about metrics, and actually run your store!
