Pros

If you show up everyday on time and work your shift, you can almost always keep your job.

Cons

The smell of the place!

Advice to Management

Give more payroll hours per store. Even if the hourly rates are low you can hire more people to help.

I have been working at Petco full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working with the animals and customers. Most customers are rally interested in what advise you can give them and to me that is important.

    Cons

Management on store and district levels only worry about the numbers. I have worked for several different Petco stores and only 1 of them had managers that not only care about the numbers but also care about the employees. All the other stores the management didn't care at all and are very hard to work for. The benefits are unbelievable, too expensive out of paycheck and out of pocket. Most can't afford to go to a doctor. The dental is cheap but there is barely any coverage it is not worth it to have dental. The pay is low so a single person cannot support themselves working only there but they expect open availability so you can't get another job. Getting promoted or trained for better career paths are close to impossible.

    Advice to Management

Remember that happy employees perform their jobs better. Be more flexible with schedules. Train staff better to be more self reliant and then you will have time to do what is required of you. Lower insurance premiums and increase pay.
