Pros

There is never a dull moment. Peterson works on just about any type of equipment imaginable, of all vintages. A ton of experience can be gained in a short amount of time, and rarely do technicians get stuck in a rut of tending to the same repetitive tasks.

Cons

Upper management frequently talks about Peterson's commitment to career development, however these commitments never seem to come through. Training is lacking.

    Pros

Healthy work environment, surrounded by genuine co-workers.
Selling the best products on the market, namely Caterpillar.
    Diverse product lines.
Management is open and shares much of the company news and outlooks.

    Cons

Current economy has held back employee growth, wages, bonuses, etc.
Relatively small company with lateral moves being more prevalent than upward mobility.

  2. "This company under appreciates its union employees."

    Pros

The mechanics work really well together.

    Cons

Management has created a divide between union, and nonunion employees, and will not listen to the union employees when they have concerns.

    Advice to Management

Throw out the mindset of union versus nonunion and embrace your mechanics. Stop trying to step on them every chance you get. Some of these guys would be happy with a pizza every once in awhile. They're not that hard to please.
