Pros

Customer Service is king.
Benefits do eat a significant part of the check but they are on the table
You will be fairly compensated for your position you hold in comparsion to the industry average.

Cons

The team was micromanaged from operation manager as a guest service agent. Information is communciated downward ineffectively from up above.

Advice to Management

Lessen the micromanagement and lengthen training weeks from two weeks to four possibly. Also training your replacement is cruel.

    I have been working at Pillar Hotels and Resorts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Much has changed since I joined this company several years ago. In this time the company has taken a proactive approach to maintaining their assets instead of differing maintenance as most within the company witnessed in the past. New forecast, intelligence, and business systems have been installed that rival or beat similar systems found within the large hotel chains, and found nowhere else in other 3rd party management companies. Recently the company has adopted company-wide monthly review calls typically consisting of the GM, Regional Director of Ops, RVP, Property Accountant, Comptrollers, Revenue Manager and Analysts. Also, may RDO is extremely hands off, and allows me and my property to function freely. This said, they are always quick to respond when I have a question or need assistance.

    Cons

    For 2013 benefit coverage has gone down, while the cost has gone up. Corporate has great intentions in terms of communication with the field, however, regional/ company/ leadership calls are sporadic at best. Corporate incentives for field employees are also more infrequent as sporadic than in months/ years past.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to improve communication with management and associates in the field.

    Pros

    Good network for purchasing, many other team members to get assistance from, has a good vision. Good online resources.

    Cons

    Growing so fast that the companies philosophies are just talk. Upper management does all the talking and no listening. The financial gains are always more important than anything else, including quality and customer service. Very top heavy on upper management positions.

    Advice to Management

    Slow down a bit and listen to your line level managers. Don't just say that quality and customer satisfaction are important but allocate resources to these goals. Be hones
